Yeah....I caught that too. I thought she said that the whole country stunk.
I don't mind these two... They speak their minds and are okay with who they are. I can respect that.
People in other countries think that WE stink. It's a cultural thing.
Katie needs to keep in mind what Mark Twain said about travel:
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness."
To me, there's a big difference between saying, "these bushmen stink" and "this country smells like poo" (when there are piles of poo all over the ground and you're surrounded by donkeys, goats, and wild animals).
For me it's all part of the same lack of observation of one's surroundings as well as a lack of understanding that there are different cultures as well as many different physical environments that people live in. I really would like to see her face when she realizes the the "most sophisticated city in the world, Paris" smells like pee because it is the custom for men to do their business in the corners of even the most fashionable streets. (Like where all the fashion houses are located.)
IMO Katie needs to learn the French saying: "D'Autres pays, autres moeurs." Different countries, different customes."
