How's Gus going to handle having to go through airport security?

I have to say that this team really bugs me... on the one hand, I think they are very sweet, but if I was Hera, doing this with Gus would drive me up the friggin wall! I don't think that he has ever seen TAR before, cause the way he was telling her not to speed cause they were gonna get killed was... well, stupid. And seeing him shirtless wasn't something I will forever treasure, to put it mildly.

Gus is way too laid-back for the race. Yes, there's a time to keep calm, but he's pushing it.

If you're talking about conspiring on the first day, you're on the wrong show. Mark Burnett needs you in Vanuatu.

Hera is Ok for me, but Gus is a bit too slow. I think it should be safe, not the atitude of being too relaxed. Moreover, I hope I won't see more "white undies" from Gus

I'm liking Hera a lot so far, but I have no idea how she can put up with her father. Gus seems to really be a control freak and has a hard time accepting his daughter as a mature adult. First, telling her not to speed (hello - it's a race and she certainly didn't appear to be going at a pace that would be deadly by any means). Then, when they got in the boat to look for the buoy, she asked a question and he snapped at her about not asking questions and talking but to be his eyes and find the bouy. Geesh, give the girl a break - it's her first time in Iceland and she had a simple question about a glacier, or whatever it was. Hera then finds the buoy and Gus immediately says "Give it to me", like she's incapable of reading the clue correctly. Notice that he drove the rest of the show as well. And when they came in last, Hera went to hug her dad and he didn't even acknowledge her. Aside from his nasty underwear and the snow bath I had no desire to see, he just doesn't seem to be a nice person. He said at the beginning of the show that he's still the father and he's still in charge, and he certainly showed it. If I was Hera, I'd have a hard time dealing with such a domineering father. Hopefully he chills out a bit, and if so I could like this team.

Charlie ( btw), these comments were exactly what I was thinking. The hug incident made me so sad. I found him to be as obnoxious as Jonathan, he's just not as overt about it. Add to this the fact that he is so out of shape, and therefore, as slow as molasses, I don't expect to be seeing them for very long. I am an optimist, however, so I'm hoping Hera will make some fabulous contributions to their team, show her father she's not a little girl to be bullied, and they can at least come away from this experience with a better relationship.

Considering parent/child teams haven't really done all that well, no matter what shape Gus is in I'd be surprised to see them last long on the fate of those parent/child teams before them. Minus Gus (especially his snow bath) I liked Hera. She started off annoying me, but by the end it was reversed. I thought his comment about being in charge was kind of funny; it's something one of my parent's would say.
