Don't panic if you think you are lost.
    Hang onto the route info.
    Drink lots of bottled water.

My advice would be to read the route marker out loud, completely, and clearly. So both teammates know what is going on. And then hold onto it, and keep reading it so you don't mess up and do the task wrong.

I had a psych class in college, and the teacher always insisted you read the instructions on tests COMPLETELY. Every once in awhile, he would hide answers to the questions on the test IN the instructions. So, if you followed his notion of always reading through completely, you'd get 2 or three questions(usually hard ones too) answered for you without even trying.

I always loved finding out who got those questions wrong!

Something tells me the ATC's would have done well in this version of TAR. Didn't they add slowdowns to the game?

Amen to this! It always amazed me when TAR contestants would end up in the wrong place or unable to solve something because they didn't read the directions. Or you could always loose the route marker information, if you were tired and wanted to go home.

There's a thread called "everything you wanted to know about TAR but were afraid to ask" with lots of great info. Anyway, I remember someone asking about the racers reading the clue out loud:

So it's especially funny when someone gets messed up, since part of the rules is that they have to read the entire clue out loud.

Be polite. Being the "Ugly American" doesn't make anyone want to help you.

If the person you are trying to communicate with doesn't speak English well (or at all), speaking louder doesn't help.
