    lol Another is how he says Spa. In the past, every time Phil would say massahge or spah, my whole family would repeat it aloud. It could be a drinking game.

    I don't have problems with the public helping. If anything that's a skill - to approach the right person, to convince him to help etc. And it comes down to luck, much as with getting the right taxi. I'd much rather they ban teams from helping other teams.
    I definitely would have needed help with the Roman numerals. I only know the basic ones -X,I,V. When you get to a number in the thousands I'd be lost. I was actually surprised how many of the public knew the answer. Maybe they use Roman numerals more in Europe than in North America.
    I don't know why so many of the teams ended up at John Keats Way when the clue said Piazza di Spagna on it.

    VIIII is apparently an acceptable alternative to IX.

    I did know Ethiopia was not the Eternal City.
    You really got almost all of them, pikachu. Quick refresher course.

    M =1000, D=500, C=100, L=50, X=10, V=5, and I=1.

    If the smaller number is to the right of the larger, you add its value. If it's to the left, you subtract it. Thus, MCM is 1,900, and those who said that should be IX rather than VIIII are absolutely right. It's a bit trickier if you want to multiply, divide, or raise to powers, but they didn't have to do that.

    Florimel, thanks for explaining. I was pretty good with Roman numerals back when taking Latin in HS but, as others have said, that was a LONG time ago! ;-) I guess I was thinking I'd look and see if that "VIIII" had anything to do with the rest of the numerals/placement.

    I was also amazed at the Afghanimals thinking there was still a team behind them, and giving out the answer. I'm still not really sure what the advantage would have been to them keeping the Globetrotters and J&J with them? (Sorry if I missed any comments on this, I did a really quick review.) They FOR SURE would have beaten two teams by just taking off for the pitstop. So glad FT and BE did not get eliminated! Still feeling pretty okay with all the teams, this go round. :-)

    The Afghanimals figured they would have two teams going into the next round who would not uturn them. They made them promise not to before giving the answer. And they were definitely surprised to find out that the country singers were not behind them - you could see the shock on the shorter one's face at the mat. I don't think they would have given out the answer if they knew how close they were to elimination.

    Those two teams, do you think they would go ahead them anyway? its a game after all.

    How exciting! We were in Rome for one day last summer, so it was wonderful to see places we had been like the Colosseum, parts of the Forum, and the Pantheon. We ate lunch at a restaurant right beside it. I love that city and would love to go back and stay longer.

    Another great episode. I wasn't that sorry to see Jessica and John go home, but wish it could have been the Country Singers instead. I loved the enthusiasm during the gladiator fight though, Jessica was awesome as were the cousins. That guy they had to fight was BIG but you could tell he was really having fun with the whole thing.

    Once again, cab drivers are the difference between staying and going, and the challenge at the Spanish Steps was interesting. Getting help from the locals was crucial to getting it done. I didn't like Leo and Jamal just giving the answer away to the two other teams (even though it saved my Globetrotters), and you could see from their faces that they had no idea that the Singers had already checked in and they were running in last. It was a stupid mistake on their part, as they could easily have been out themselves if they had taken a wrong turn at any point. What a close race to the mat!

    Where are they off to next? The preview looked amazing. I love this show, it's my travel porn

    CCL = 250!

    (Spellcheck insists on uncapitalizing CCL. Until I put in this edit, then it keeps the caps, making the edit meaningless.)
