Tim and Danny were eliminated this week and of the three pool teams that included them, only Fanny’s Pack had a reserve team left so they’ll be replacing Tim and Danny with Tim and Marie next week.

This change means that current 1st ranked pool team, Fanny’s Pack, now has the same lineup as the 2nd ranked pool team, RacingDreamers. The Dreamers are 5 points below Fanny’s Pack and will never be able to get ahead of them. Plus, this opens the door for some lower-ranked teams to stage a come-from-behind victory.

Teams to watch include As the Crow Flies and Racy Regrets. As the Crow Flies has almost the same lineup as Fanny’s Pack and RacingDreamers, except that they have Nicky and Kim instead of Leo and Jamal. Racy Regrets has Leo and Jamal and Nicky and Kim, but not Jason and Amy. So if Nicky and Kim do well in the next few episodes, Crow Flies and Racy Regrets could get ahead of Fanny’s Pack and Dreamers. A lot hinges on how well the Afghanimals do, too. First place in the pool could come down to who goes out first—Leo and Jamal or Jason and Amy. If Leo and Jamal are out first, As the Crow Flies will top the leaderboard. If Jason and Amy are out first, Racy Regrets could become top dog. And if Nicky and Kim are the next team eliminated, Fanny’s Pack and RacingDreamers could maintain their spots on the leaderboard.

Another dark horse to keep an eye on is Planes, Trains, and Stick-Shifts. They still have their full team intact, including their reserve couple. Unlike the teams in the top three, they have Jason and Amy as their team captains and they have Ally and Ashley as their reserve. If things turn upside down in the next few episodes and some of the current leading teams end up being eliminated, they have a longshot chance of walking away with the victory!

Congratulations to Racy Regrets for having the highest weekly score and to Fanny’s Pack for having the highest overall score.

    Re: Amazing Race 23 Pool

I would never have guessed Travis and Nicole (the ER doctors) would last this long in the game. They made such simple but costly blunders in the first few episodes, I figured they'd be one of the first few teams eliminated but here they are winning legs! I chose my pool team randomly this season so at least I can't blame my poor judgement on not including them on my team. If I had picked my team, I would not have included them and I would have been kicking myself right about now!

I was really worried about Ally & Ashley last night. They're my team captains and I'm already doing poorly in the pool as it is. If they had been eliminated, I would have had a good chance at winning the Wooden Oar this season. Thank goodness they managed to reach the pitstop before Tim and Danny! I don't know if their luck will hold out for another week, though. They need to hustle to make sure they aren't the next team going home.

I thought once I lost Danny and Tim, that I would have been lower. Well done Jacceegirl!

I had similar concerns about Travis and Nicole, notwithstanding the fact that I chose them as one of my teams. I've noticed often that people who are used to working in high-pressure situations (an ER) can't transfer their ability to other high-pressure situations. I expected them to implode early but I still believe they can do well. Maybe not the final four, but the best half. I was surprised last night to see Tim and Danny still in it. I thought they had been eliminated weeks ago.

Wani is still speechless since last week and the stunning loss of the Beardos. He's been trying to perfect a raspberry for all those who might laugh at his selections. It's been a very trying week for Wani, due to the fact that crocodiles have no lips - at least I don't think they do, I don't want to get too close to check - so the raspberry just comes out like a hiss. We almost missed the broadcast this week with the time change. Japan doesn't set the clocks back, so I was lucky just to be on Google when the Hangout started.

It appears that we only have three teams left in this thing, so look for Wani to slowly fade off into the distance lagging behind the rest of the teams.

Thank you Fanny and congratulations for still being in first place. Even if I can never catch you I know I am in good company no matter where we end up finishing. I had no idea what I was doing and just chose blindly. Congratulations to Racy Regrets for highest weekly score and to As the Crow Flies and Racy Regrets best of luck to both of you - this will be exciting to see what happens.

Maybe if Tim and Marie and Nicky and Kim get eliminated I will be an invisible horse! I have J/Amy, Afganimals, Docs, and Ice left....

Hey...it could happen! (I'm grasping at straws here...after getting the Rusty Hanger Award (or whatever it's called!) in the PR pool!

There’s not much to report this week since this was a non-elimination round. All racing couples get 5 points for staying in the race and will continue on to next week.

We can expect fireworks next week when we find out which couple is eliminated and see how that impacts our leaderboard. We have several pool teams rubbing shoulders in the upper echelons of the scoreboard, just waiting for their chance to get on top of the heap.

For the time being, Fanny’s Pack still has their fanny on the throne, with Racing Dreamers right at their feet. As the Crow Flies and Racy Regrets are just a stone’s throw away. Also on the immediate horizon are Buckeye Brawlers and Planes, Trains, and Stick-Shifts.

Tune in next week to see if the leaderboard turns upside down or if things remain about the same. It looks like we’re in for a shake-up!
