Re: 5/9 Finale Show Discussion **Spoilers**

I am sick of planes and cabs deciding who gets the wins. Who cares if it is first class, business class, etc Brent and Caite lost because of a bad cab driver period, and that is dumb. Did I want them to win, no but that is a dumb reason to lose. I think that TAR should assign each team a driver, and they have to tell the driver where to go based on their directions from maps or other people in the country, or they have to drive themselves. I think they should all fly the same flights, and just get to leave the airport based on how far ahead they get the task done. It should be based on their task doing ability, and their ability to get directions correct and find things. Anyone can have a good cab driver get them there, and anyone can have the bad luck of a bad driver. I want the race to be more about their ability to figure things out, and do tasks not how to get the best seats or best cab. That is all luck.

The brothers winning just was a sick feeling. They did play harder and come up with ways to win, but it was just slimy little edgy pushy things that got them the win. If it was because they deserved it for doing something like the Cowboys did with the flags fine, but it was just being sneaky and jerky, and really whomever was ahead when they got to SF really had no way to lose with the way the race is finished unless they got a bad cab driver.

What I thought unfair, about the entire final leg, was the virtual reality situation. If you noticed, it was only the cowboys that incurred the "penalty" of having to wait for the brothers to move out of the way. When the models showed up, they were nowhere near the cowboys in the virtual reality world, so didn't have to wait on them. It would have been interesting to have seen that in real time so we knew how long they were at an impass.

I was ok with the brothers putting their bag "in line", because inevitably it didn't matter...it just showed their maturity level. I think it was smart of them to ask to be bumped, but like taxi drivers, luck of the draw as to whether it works or not (But I agree...rules should be modified to not permit first class/business class flight/bumps). But it wasn't right that the cowboys bumpbed into the brothers because they were essentially on the same course, whereas the models were able to navigate without any obstacles virtually.

Brandy needs to grow up (and shut up).

If 3 teams are far back and one ask to be move to the first row in coach isn't the outcome the same?

The rule should be that you CAN'T move from your assigned seat.

Growl.
I don't know if this is "official" but, according to this what the weasels did did not break any rules:

"Teams are required to purchase economy class airfare when they fly, using the credit card provided by the show. Teams may ask the airlines to upgrade their tickets to first or business class as long as they only pay economy fare. Teams may be forbidden from flying on certain airlines or restricted to specific airlines in some cases."

But wouldn't being assigned a bad seat be the same as getting a bad taxi driver?

I too am disappointed that the cowboys didn't ride off into the sunset with the million, but it is a race, and sometimes the luck of the draw plays into it because of the nature of this race.

I presume all the teams read and knew all of the rules and I actually find it odd that the brothers were the only team to ask for an upgrade.

Maybe it's just me, but the Cowboys seemed a little off last night, almost as if they felt they didn't have a good chance. I suspect something happened that we didn't see.

I'm in the minority with you lacey. Although they were starting to grow on me at the end. I was SO sick of that "golly, gee, awww shucks" stuff I wanted to throw up. And if I hear "Oh my gravy" ONE more time...I'm gonna scream. But, having said that...towards the end, as they stayed longer and longer, and the teams I did NOT like were staying in, I KINDA started to pull for them. I'm actually from the hometown of Brent and Caite, but with those nasty attitudes, I would NEVER pull for them. (although I did like her Gamecocks shirt) The brothers were ok sometimes, and not so ok other times. At the airport when they broke in front of the cowboys, I was hoping that Cord was going to kick the brothers' butt!

But now that it's over...I'm ok with the way it turned out. I just hope there are more likeable teams next season.

Part of playing a game is strategy, and thinking fast. So as long as they are within the rules, it could be that quick thinking and years of watching the show, that paid off in the end.

This game is basically the art of traveling. Who can maneuver their way around the globe through various means. Airline travel is very tricky and I know I always ask for a seat near the front, an aisle seat, and best to be moved up to 1st or business class. Sometimes it works/ Sometimes it doesn't. I don't think the guys broke any rules by asking and getting moved. And I would hate for rules to change so that the art of travel is taken out of the mix... we would just be left with teams performing tasks.

I guess the same can be said for bad taxi's. I agree that Brent and Caite lost because of a stupid taxi driver. But they were not even close to the marker. Perhaps Brent and Caite should have noticed, when looking at the map, that they should have been on the Coastal Bluffs not by the Main Post. A racer should not leave it up to the Taxi driver and assume they know where to go.

Thanks echo. I figured there had to be something. We were just waiting for Phil to say, You are team #1, however....lol
It was still a good race though.

I am not sure that you could ever assign a designated cab driver since the majority of the race is in a foreign country, but it has been proven that having to drive themselves to the destinations can even the playing field.

I agree about the airports, though. I am not sure how this could be changed, but something needs to be done. This is where everyone ALWAYS catches up to the others. The brothers arrived 6 hours after the cowboys and were able to make the same flight.

Then Jordan decided to cut in line - which made no sense to me. At that point in the race (if they had not upgraded to first class), then they would have only been a few seats in front of the cowboys at the most. Why act like jerks when all the teams were going to be on the same flight? All the brothers accomplished was to look like total jerks. They even were rubbing it in the faces of the cowboys - who by the way, chose not to make a scene in the airport.

I was rooting for the cowboys to win and might have been okay with the brothers winning had it not been for the "cut in line" and the snide remarks they kept saying to Jet and Cord last night .... like calling them pissy. That plus the rude way the brothers treated their cab drivers on some legs of the race pretty much soured me on them. And yet Jet and Cord continued to show their "integrity" throughout the whole race. The brother's win left a bad taste in my mouth.
