Above the Law - A Legal Tabloid - News, Gossip, and Colorful Commentary on Law Firms and the Legal Profession - Biglaw Siblings to Compete on the Amazing Race

Tuesday, January 27, 2009 9:48 AM - By Kashmir Hill

The Amazing Race is a reality TV show where teams of two race around the world in the hopes of winning $1 million. The 14th season of the show debuts on February 15th, and will star hot legal siblings, Victor and Tammy Jih.

Victor Jih, 35, is a partner at O'Melveny and Myers, while Tammy Jih, 26, is an associate at Quinn Emanuel. In this CBS video clip, Tammy says she hasn't "had exactly the same life experience that Victor has had." We think she just means in terms of length of time spent in Biglaw. Both Jihs went to Stanford undergrad and Harvard Law School, and now work as attorneys in California.

According to their bios on the CBS site:

Tammy is a litigator who believes that her ability to keep a cool head under pressure, especially with little or no sleep, will lead to success on the Race. Her biggest pet peeve with her brother is that he's a bit of a control freak...
Victor is a partner at his law firm and works as a corporate litigator. He is running the Race to see if he and his sister can co-exist in a hyper-competitive situation without driving each other crazy.

We're going to be catching up with the Jihs in an interview later today. If you have questions you'd like us to ask the hottie reality TV stars, beyond their practice groups and relationship statuses, send us an e-mail with the subject "Amazing Race."

Check out a video clip of the two, as well as a little info on who they're up against, after the jump.

How will lawyers fare in competition with flight attendants, cheerleaders, and college athletes? From the press release:

Other teams this season include pairs of stuntmen, Southwest Airlines flight attendants, former National Football League cheerleaders and University of Louisville college athletes. Brother-and-sister team Victor Jih, 35, and Tammy Jih, 26, both graduated from Stanford University and Harvard Law School and now work as corporate litigators in California.
"Having seven years of higher education under our belts, we thought it would give us a big advantage because we're good at learning," said Tammy. "We went into this race knowing that everything we would face would be difficult and new and things that we're not familiar with, but we were really comfortable in the fact that we're good learners."

It sounds like high school all over again. Will the Debate Kids beat the Jocks?

The Jihs discuss their Amazing Race strategy in this clip from CBS:

My VCR and I (yeah, I'm old school - so what!?) really look forward to not having our timing messed up by football games on Sundays once the race starts. I cannot tell you how many times I missed the tail end of the program last go round because I underestimated how much "extra" time I needed to set. (Long story of why I have to use VCR, not really pertinent though).
I enjoy the escapism of reality television. Beats the heck out of worrying about your REAL life!!

According to Wikipedia, some of the rumored countries for this season (they're saying 9 total):

Romania (), Switzerland, India, China, and Russia. Bertram said while in Russia teams traveled via the Trans Siberian railway and were stuck in a snow storm with sub zero temps. He said there were less time in airports for the teams, extreme climate changes, tough roadblocks, and an Olympic style challenge that left the teams "gasping for air".

Good old CBS has the entire route map on their site AGAIN, if you want all the Pit Stops to be spoiled. It's the first thing you see when you go there.

I didn't want to see it. Too late.
