Experts Offer Relationship Advice to "Race"rs in TV Guide

The current issue of "TV Guide", on sale this week (with Melissa and Joan Rivers gracing the cover), features another article on "Amazing Race".

A panel of relationship experts, including Dr. Drew Pinsky, offers relationship advice to the remaining six couples - as all are in some form of romantic relationship (or in the case of Adam and Rebecca, wanting a romantic relationship).

I don't think I'll be spoiling too much by saying that Dr. Pinsky advises Victoria (who exposed her own ugly side on the 1/11 episode) to drop Jonathan and head straight for the nearest therapists office.

Would it be wrong to ask if some kindly soul could post it here? With props to tvguide, of course. Or is it available online somewhere????

The TV Guide Article as follows (I'll do one reply per couple)

    Kris Perkins & Jon Buehler

This lovey-dovey duo didn't know each other very well when the race began but, says Dr. Drew, "There's a real 'We're together' sense from them." Add McGee and Taylor: "These joyful sweethearts clearly possess the best-friend and sexual chemistries [needed] to win the game of love. And possibly "The Amazing Race"." Still, Lodge thinks if one took charge, they would go even further. "Both seem afraid to really take [control]. When someone 'finally] does, there will be a little conflict but a lot of growth."

    The experts:
Ellen Fein & Sherrir Schneider, co-authors of "The Rules of Marriage: Time-Tested Secrets for Making Your Marriage Work".

Dr. Drew Pinsky, certified addictionologist and host of Discovery Health Channel's upcoming series "Strictly Sex with Dr. Drew."

Roger Loge, host of the syndicated dating series "Blind Date".

Seana McGee & Maurice Taylor, married psychotherapists and co-authors of "The New Couple: Why the Old Rules Don't Work and What Does."

Dr. Joyce Brothers, psychologist, columnist, television personality, and author of "What Every Woman Should Know About Men."

    Also from TV Guide:

    Adam Malis & Rebecca Cardon

These former lovers hoped that the show would bring them back together, but after watching Rebecca yell as Adam as he struggled to carry bags of salt in Senegal, that seems unlikely. "When you're on a trip like this, you've got to be nice and zip the lip," Fein says. McGee and Taylor believe the couple should've seen a therapist before to "heal their rage," while Lodge thinks the relationship ended as soon as Adam revealed that his mom cuts his toenails: "It's 'Thanks for coming. Good night'."

    Jonathan Baker & Victoria Fuller

Whether Jonathan is yelling at wife Victoria about her sense of direction or shoving her when she tries to help him carry his backpack, he seems to be "a "Dr. Phil" episode waiting to happen," Lodge says. Dr. Drew's advice to Victoria is simple. "Run, run!" And stop by a therapist's office on the way out." McGee and Taylor recommend that Jonathan spend one year doing "volunteer work at Mother Teresa's Home for the Dying, after which he can come home and repropose to Victoria."

I kept wondering why I had heard of Dr. Drew Pinsky. He was from BB 1, wow silly the things you remember.

    And More:

    Lori Harvey & Bolo Dar'Tainian

These pro wrestlers don't just battle in the ring. Lori has pounded her husband for everything from Bolo's sausage-making abilities to his counting skills during a challenge at a Swedish Ikea store. "She tells him to shut up," Schneider says. "She needs to be quiet and not be disrespectful." Dr. Brothers, however, sees their sniping as "cartoon bitching...it's sweet, not mean. They seems pretty evenly matched. Except that she seems stronger than he is."

    Kendra Bentley & Freddy Holliday

These engaged models are less argumentative than the others, but that doesn't mean there aren't problems. Whenever Kendra makes inappropriate comments about, say, the impoverished people in Senegal, Freddy does little to set her straight. Dr. Drew thinks it's because "he idealizes her so much, he isn't hearing the horrible things she says." Adds Schneider: "Kendra could be a little sweeter. She's so quick to point out his flaws. And Freddy could be a little tougher."

    Last but not least,

    Hayden Kristianson & Aaron Crumbaugh

Quiet, Aaron is on the receiving end of a lot of Hayden's gripes. (Heh, it's not his fault she can't read maps!) Dr. Drew says this imbalance doesn't bode well for the duo: "I don't see where he fits with her. If times get tough, they'll start to fight." Schneider, on the other hand, likes how the couple kisses when they win a leg of the race. ("They'll be together forever," she predicts), but Dr. Brothers questions why Hayden constantly calls her boyfriend "baby". "I'd advise her to rememberhis name if they want to win."

You may have also heard of him from his talk show on LA radio and an MTV "love and sex advice" show he did several years ago with Adam Corolla.
