What is the best quality for a contestant of a TAR race?

What do you think is the best quality, other than getting along with your partner, for this type of race?

    Plan, plan, plan.
Muscle it out using the strongest team member for roadblocks.
    Speed in running, climbing, etc,
    Alliances.
Psyching out the other team members.
    Pacing.
    Other.

I was thinking getting along with your partner. How well you can get along with your partner impacts how well you can work with them. That's really the key.

You can't really plan for this type of thing. Alliances can work, but they can only get you so far. A good team can be psyched out but not to the extent that it'll cost them very much.

Pacing is helpful because taking half a minute is much better than making a stupid mistake that costs you half an hour. Fitness is helpful, but it seems strength outweighs being in shape.

To add to yours, off the top of my head:

Handling physical & mental stress well.
Ability to plan and navigate well on the move.
LUCK. Especially with all the bunching up they have.

to have common sense and being able to follow directions/instructions carefully.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and a leaky tire. .

A good taxi driver, friends in the air travel business and a good pair of running shoes and legs... Not forgetting a good pair of eyes.

First you need to get on the show so the most important quality is that you are a gay clown couple who haven't had sex in 12 years.

Or someone full of superstitions who always stops to either avoid something (stepping on cracks in As Good As It Gets), throw salt, have periodic amnesia and forget who your partner is, etc. It won't make a winner, but it'll provide an "interesting" race.

    Somehow I just knew that:

    1) Having a big gut
    2) Having bum knees
    3) Listing your 'luxury item' as 'my la-z-boy', and
    4) Running the race without breaking a sweat

weren't going to make anyone's choice for answers. If only we had known beforehand! Arrrrgggghhh!

    Dave
