TVGuide's Matt Roush Comments on TAR's Emmy Nod

    From TVGuide.com :

    By Matt Roush

I was thrilled that Amazing Race was nominated along with Survivor and American Idol in the new reality-competition category. The class act of reality TV deserves the attention, and maybe this will convince CBS to stick with it for a fifth go-round. It's also a wise move by the Emmy show producers to decide to include this influential category in the prime-time telecast. What show had greater impact than Idol last season?

TAR better win too... compared with AI and Survivor, TAR kicks some major ass.

I agree that TAR is the best reality series going, but for the first award in this category, I wouldn't be surprised if Survivor won it, and not undeservedly so.

Survivor itself wasn't the first reality show by any stretch, but it was the breakthrough.

Wait - I thought this category has already been around for a year or two, but this is the first time it's being given out in the primetime ceremony.

    Am I mistaken? :

I agree...great to see it with the prime time show where this catagory belongs...

how super that TAR got the nomination ...just that alone makes people hear about it..

also last week 8 million viewers for last episode of Tian and Jaree...and I read where the models are getting much more post show interest than many other racers got...they are good PR for the show I think I really hope a TAR5 comes along

    Amazing Race Is World Class!!!

Amazing race deserves recognition. It's a race where you can
actually learn about people, culture and places. Imagine,
you get to travel around the world in your living room!
It's like a magic carpet ride! They have shown so many spectacular places in this world that I want to visit after seeing the show
but can't decide as there are far too many to choose from.
One thing I liked about the show is that they never failed to
show diversity in human relationships. It pretty much covered
all aspects of relationships. I hope that AR lasts to like AR 100.
My objective now is to get busy finding a partner so I can get
in AR 6 or 7! Congratulations Amazing Race! You're truly a
world class winner! Now, that's AMAZING!
