Okay, it was a joint strategic decision to quit the sand castle task en masse. Not nearly as dramatic as the promo made it out to be.

And the firefighters who were so sure they had an advantage--we canoe all the time--tip over immediately and then tip over again after they seem to catch up. I guess pride in paddling goeth before a fall.

I wish Team Newlywed had gone out instead of the Firefighters. At least the Firefighters weren't bothersome, and any team that announces itself as "diabolical" is, IMO.

Wonder when we'll find out if Jessica/John actually stayed true to their alliance agreement and handed that second express pass to Conner and his dad.

Well, I guess I have my answer. I wonder if it's really wise for J/J to back out on an alliance so early, though. It makes it far less likely that anyone else in the alliance will ever want to help them, should they need it.

Who said they ruptured their Achilles in the preview? If that wasn't an exaggeration, he's right--they are out. No way anyone should run a race on a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The newlywed team is going to have to work to make me like them, because Katie seems perfectly content to be rude.

The comment about her fake smile from the hubby made me dislike them already.

Watched with some friends tonight and the general opinions are:

Jessica/John are already going back on their word? Karma and John's blindingly white teeth were bugging all of us.

The newlyweds are already annoying us. "We have no friends at home" and it was annoying for them to have to talk to the other teams? Just a touch superior, are they not? I can see them as this years villians since I want to slap them both already.

The guy from the YouTube team needs to tone it down...a lot! I have a feeling he will be getting on my every last nerve.

Are they going to be having a "hillbilly" type team every season...and play hillbilly music everytime they are on screen? No stereotypes at all for TAR.

Not a bad first episode. We all want to go to Bora Bora and paddle one of those canoes while drinking 7up and vodka!!!
