If we weren't expecting our first child, my husband and I would make a pretty good team, and might have applied. Of course, I'd come off as a complete witch, and he'd come off as the super sweet, funny, put upon guy... who married a witch. I'm definitely the more assertive. I'm another one who doesn't like conflict, but generally doesn't lose if drawn into it. We'd be great television, but I'm sure I'd be hated by viewers and my husband would be loved.

I actually suggested my husband apply with my mom; I thought Team Mother-In-Law would be great fun. I think it's a great concept, the real problem is that they get along so well that it might not make for good tv in reality. That, and the fact that my mom (and I, for that matter) need to eat regularly or we get um... difficult. And all of us need our sleep, and I can't see us getting enough quality sleep on flights and at pitstops. That said, my mom wouldn't do it, she prefers to travel first class anyway.

My half-sister actually applied with her best friend/roommate, but I don't think they've heard anything. I thought about suggesting she apply with my husband, but even I'm not crazy enough to send my husband off around the world with my sister! (They would actually be a great team. They're both funny and have more laid back personalities than high strung type A me :-) )

Well i was born and raised in the Philippines and lived there for 10 years. English is like the second language over there and the school i went to teaches everything in English. Then we went to Germany and lived there for 5 years, and when i was 15 we moved to the states to be with my dad's side of the family. I took 2 years of French in college. I'm not really fluent in French but i can get by. It's true what they say, you can learn foreign language alot easier when your a kid. Plus if you already know 1 or 2 languages you can relate stuff you've learned from that language to the one your learning.
    Kick some ass...get some later...

I'd definitely pick my husband. He's really athletic, & intellectually, he's great at the things I'm not, & I'm great at the things he's not. He's also really good at traveling, if that makes sense. What I mean is that he's good at tracking down flights & whatnot. He's also very friendly & outgoing, basically, he's never met a stranger in his life, he makes friends easily. I am more cautious than him & very detail-oriented, so that would be a plus with reading clues. He has a great sense of direction, whereas I could get lost in a crackerbox. We get along great & rarely argue, so we'd probably be the boring team! Although, if someone pisses me off, I could go all Mirna on their ass & get the reputation of being a bitch. I'm definitely not an instigator, but I will stand up for myself when provoked!

Well I've been giving this some thought.

    a) Best friend: We've been friends since grammar school, and were best man in each other's weddings. He's a computer programmer and a manager at a big aerospace firm, in good shape, speaks French and we work well together (worked at Wendy's together in High school).

I speak Spanish, can fumble along with Italian and German. I've been to most of Europe, and I've been to Central America. Oh, I speak the language of soccer, which should help me in most countries. I need to lose some weight, but I'm in decent shape - want to get in good shape, but I'm much stronger than my buddy. Plus depending if the cars are automatic or standard, I'm a great driver in traffic. Standard isn't my thing, but he can drive the stick...we'll just be slow

I'm trying to talk him into doing this with me- two 40 somethings, one guy works in soccer - the other is a geek.

I thought about my dad but after our recent trip I realized that he'd drive me nuts. So I'd go with my friend from my last job. She's really adventurous, has a really big appetite and knows some Chinese so if we were to end up in China or Hong Kong we'd be set. It would be helpful if one of us had a driver's license, wouldn't it?

I think I'd take Donald Trump.

Whatever city we found ourselves in, he could make one simple phone call and get a limo and a dozen fellows to show up and do all our challenges for us.

And, in that same phone call, he could call in some muscle and make the other teams "yield", if you know what I mean.

Alternately, he could easily afford to offer each team a million to take a dive.
