Episode 1 Preview: 07/06

Eleven couples will compete in a race around the world with one couple taking home a $1 million dollar prize when THE AMAZING RACE 5, the Emmy Award-winning reality series, premieres with a special 90-minute broadcast Tuesday, July 6 (9:30-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Phil Keoghan is the host of the series.

In the premiere episode, 11 diverse teams of two set off on the first leg of the race starting at the famous Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles and quickly making their way to Uruguay. A medical emergency has one team racing to catch their flight, while tensions ensue among other teams after a team holds up the line at the ticket counter in order to honor an early alliance. Once in Uruguay, two teams battle to avoid elimination after not completing the challenge correctly.

Would that mean the first location is Uruguay or the majority of the leg?

Because on the commercials...the line of the flight from Santa Monica -> Miami -> South American location looks like they stop in Buenos Aires first...

hmm... i think the medical emergency is due to the fall at the start of the race....from what i saw it's a very nasty one, and imagine like 21 people trampling over you!! ( the partner could be one too! ) anyways if i saw correctly i think the one being trampled over is dennis... i hope they're not eliminated because till now they're one of my fav teams
