The problem with drinking lots of bottled water - you'll need many pit stops (this would be better advice for two men - women would have a problem with drinking lots of water). In fact, lack of adequate/available toilet facilities has kept my husband and I from trying out for TMR.Quote:

Learn as many car transmissions at possible e.g Manumatic, Auto, Manual I forgot the other 2
Don't bring too much water around with you- you can always buy it along the way.
look at the map before you start driving- remembering a general driving route can help you!
if you're short or long sighted- Bring your glasses with you. They are essential for driving and map reading and anything like that.
visit the doctor before the race- check your fitness and test blood etc.
train up for it- visit the gym before the race
If you're employed- call the work place and tell them you'll need some time off for TAR.

Manumatic is good transmission that IMO gets more out of the car engine. It's found more in European than Japanese cars.
I had some custom built Toyota Coasters made with Manumatics.

If you're driving a Mitsubishi, Toyota, Lexus, Benz or BMW in TAR, you're likely to see a manumatic transmission. Fords=maybe in some countries. you can just freely move the stick between +/- without using a clutch.

Often with smaller cars. there is no park or neutral gears(even between R/D). But it is possible to put the gear stick between R/D then pull the handbrake. Sometimes a Manumatic +/- may show up.
Of course, all who dread manual! It's actually that easy.

Just memorise the order of the gearbox and all you gotta do is push on the clutch everytime you want to change gear. Move your hand towards the direction of the gear you're going to.
e.g
1 to 2
*throttle relase* *clutch* up, right, up *release clutch* *engage throttle*
We all know how to use auto here :)
learn to drive
be courteous (no matter how pissed off you may be)
learn languages (or at least basic conversation)
travel light (who cares if you stink) :P
kiss-ass (it'll help further in the game)
