Roadblock Statistics - TAR 10

I was interested in how many roadblocks each team member had done so far, just in case the roadblock limit rule was still in effect. The descriptive paragraphs come from the CBS website, but the short titles are mine.

Episode 1 – Fish Eyes

In this Roadblock, one Team member had to indulge in the delicacy of fish eyes, a common food in China. To receive the next clue, that person had to eat all of the eyes out of a bowl of fish heads. Duke, Karlyn, Peter, Mary, James, Jamie, Terry, Kandice, Rob, Vipul, Bilal and Erwin performed the Roadblock for their Teams.

Episode 2 – Flaming Arrow

In this Roadblock, one Team member had to use a traditional Mongolian bow to shoot a flaming arrow to ignite a target 160 feet away. After hitting the target, the Team could run to the Pit Stop at a pavilion on a hill. Lauren, Lyn, Peter, David, Tyler, Kellie, Tom, Dustin, Kimberly and Erwin performed the Roadblock for their Teams.

Episode 3 – Bicycle Flower Peddler

In this Roadblock, one Team member can perform the task. In this Roadblock, that person had to choose a bicycle with a basket of flowers and sell enough to make 80,000 Vietnamese dong, roughly five U.S. dollars. Whatever money the Teams earned, they could keep. Tom, Erwin, Peter, Rob, James, Kandice, David, Lyn and Duke performed the Roadblock for their Teams.

Episode 4 – Mechanical Cliff Ascent

In this Roadblock, one Team member can perform the task. That person had to use a mechanical ascender to climb 90 feet up the sheer face of a rock. Three racers could ascend the rock at any given time, first come first serve. David, Terry, Godwin, Dustin, Rob, Sarah, Karlyn, and Tyler performed the Roadblock.

Is the roadblock rule in effect the one that says roadblocks must be evenly split between the partners? I never heard Phil mention it for this season. Is there a place were you can see what the rules are? I know there are supposed to be penalties for speeding etc... not completing tasks and have heard mention that the time penalties are accounted for.

Hmm, looks like they made a little mistake there with Lyn & Karlyn, as Lyn has only done the flaming arrow Roadblock, whereas Karlyn has done the other 3.

Kimberly, Sarah. Godwin and Mary should do the roadblock next week to balance things out or else it may come back to haunt later on in the race.

all the official rules have never been disclosed. the roadblock rule is that each team member can only do max 6 roadblocks in the entire race. enforced after season 5 because the boys in the couple teams did pretty much all the roadblocks and the girls did 1

Thanks, Rembrant. I didn't catch that, but will correct it after the next episode.

But they've never specifically said this season that each person can only do 6 roadblocks. Whereas, in other season(s), they mentioned it every episode. And it seems like some people are disproportionately doing the roadblocks, and yet no mention is being made of person X not doing a particular roadblock because they have to save his/her roadblocks for a future task. All of which makes me think that the six-roadblock rule is no longer in effect.

On the flipside, I don't think it was mentioned last season either, but the teams then still seemed to spread it out evenly. I don't remember any egregious splits where one member did ten roadblocks, the other just one (which is what led to that rule in the first place).

This was discussed at length last season in the following thread.

Roadblock Question

There is a link within that thread to a video clip of Lake and Michelle discussing her need to do more roadblocks, but not mentioning a specific rule.

Episode 5 – Driving School

In this Roadblock, one Team member can perform the task. That person had to sit through a driver's education class and then navigate through India's notoriously frenzied streets to pass a driving test while driving on the left side of the road. Peter, Dustin, Rob, Godwin, Lyn, Tyler, David performed the Roadblock.

Statistics by team

Peter (4) & Sarah (1)
Peter – Fish Eyes, Flaming Arrow, Bicycle Flower Peddler, Driving School
Sarah - Mechanical Cliff Ascent

Dustin (3) & Kandice (2)
Dustin - Flaming Arrow, Mechanical Cliff Ascent, Driving School
Kandice - Fish Eyes, Bicycle Flower Peddler

Rob (4) & Kimberly (1)
Rob - Fish Eyes, Bicycle Flower Peddler, Mechanical Cliff Ascent, Driving School
Kimberly – Flaming Arrow

Erwin (3) & Godwin (2)
Erwin – Fish Eyes, Flaming Arrow, Bicycle Flower Peddler
Godwin – Mechanical Cliff Ascent, Driving School

Lyn (2) & Karlyn (3) **incorrect on CBS site**
Lyn – Bicycle Flower Peddler, Driving School
Karlyn – Fish Eyes, Flaming Arrow**, Mechanical Cliff Ascent

Tyler (3) & James (2)
Tyler - Flaming Arrow, Mechanical Cliff Ascent, Driving School
James - Fish Eyes, Bicycle Flower Peddler

David (4) & Mary (1)
David – Flaming Arrow, Bicycle Flower Peddler, Mechanical Cliff Ascent, Driving School
Mary – Fish Eyes
