Ashley Esqueda, a 2001 graduate of Redlands East Valley High School, will be seen on the final round of competition for All American Girl Wednesday night on ABC-TV.

REDLANDS Ashley Esqueda of Redlands is one of the 10 young women finalists in the All American Girl competition to be shown on ABC-TV Wednesday, April 10, at 10 p.m.

From the creators of "American Idol," "All American Girl" seeks to find the girls who can wear the title. To qualify, young women must compete in a variety of disciplines that include athletic ability, mental agility, performance in the popular arts and beauty.

Esqueda, 20, attended Sacred Heart School in Redlands from kindergarten through the eighth grade and Redlands East Valley High School where she graduated in 2001 as a four-year honor roll student.

She was a four-year varsity starter and lettered on the REV volleyball team, and in 1998-99 was Citrus Belt League Most Valuable Player and San Bernardino County Player of the Year-All County Team. Other volleyball honors include: 1999-2000 CBL MVP, CIFSS first team selection and All County Team; 2000-2001 CBL first team selection; 2001-2002 first team selection Foothill Conference; 2002-2003 MVP Foothill Conference, All Southern California first team selection, All State first team selection, All State Champion Tournament first team selection.

She attended the University of California, Riverside, in 2001-2002 and San Bernardino Valley College 2001-2003, and in 2002 she was crowned Miss Teen Los Angeles.

She has also handled voice over in the video game "Toxic Grind" and was a calendar model. She has her own website: www.ashleye.us

Esqueda auditioned for "All American Girl" Jan. 9 at Disney's California Adventure along with thousands from across the nation. She was among 45 contestants asked to move to Round 2.

The field was narrowed to 24 and then the contestants had to compete in an obstacle course and take an intelligence test. Esqueda did well in the obstacle course and came in first in the intelligence test.

After narrowing the choices to 15, Esqueda moved to the next round, to be seen Wednesday, as one of 10 appearing in front of a live audience and asking for their votes for All American Girl.REV graduate is one of 10 All American Girl finalists
