    6/7 Show Discussion Kianna

I didn't see a thread for this episode, so I'm starting one!

I thought her boyfriend was very naive. They had no plan, no jobs, & no prospects. She should have went with her first instinct to adopt her baby to someone who was capable of giving him the things she & her young boyfriend cannot.

I also noticed for all the talk of financial limitations, she had her nails done. There's money that could have been put to better use right there!

Yeah, all these girls have money for fake nails, hair and tanning (thinking Chelsea here). Money could have been put to better use for their babies but these girls are too young and immature to realize this.
Kianna should have gone with adoption. Her BF was only 15 years old. And this girl had alot of ambition for herself, she seemed smart, more mature than her Bf and she wants to be a vet. I hope she gets her dream.

It's not just youth and immaturity that has skewed our perception of what necessities are. I pick up my kids from school near a food bank, and many many people in and out of there have the hair coloured and done, nice clothes, cell phones, etc. We just have a messed up sense of what we need.

I hope she gets her dream too.

I actually really liked Kianna. She seemed to want the best for her child and she actually got along with baby daddy. Zak seemed mature for 15 and I hope they make it together.

I was frustrated with her repeated comments about keeping the baby if daddy would promise to do his part. I kept wanting someone to ask her the obvious. Honey, have you ever watched 16 and Pregnant or Teem Mom? If she did, she would have ample opportunity to see how often teen dads promise to do so much and then they just don't do it.

I will say that that Kianna's mother looks to have done very well for herself. She was a teen mom and no father to help her, but look at the nice house they live in. How was she able to do that? I'm impressed. I know professionals, (attorneys, accountants, etc.) who struggle with two incomes to get a house that nice.

There are teen parents who keep focused and complete their education, but I think it's rare. Praise to Kianna for her desire to do it. I can't see the daddy giving much longterm support though.

Housing is very affordable in Texas. I am very close to Fort Worth, where this episode was filmed. You can get a house like that for under $200K.

ETA: there are some ritzy areas of Texas & even some neighborhoods in Fort Worth, but where they live is a very typical, affordable neighborhood.

Wow, that's nice to know. That house looked much more expensive. For a single mother will little education, it looks like she is doing okay. I guess that's why her teen daughter is so motivated.
